Privacy
The Positive Project collects nothing. It has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no tracking. This policy covers the browser extension for Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, and the Safari app for Mac, iPhone and iPad. Last updated October 21, 2026.
What happens to what you browse
On YouTube and Reddit, the extension reads the titles of videos and posts and the text of comments so it can decide what to turn down. That text is processed by small language models that ship inside the extension and run on your device. It is never sent anywhere: the extension makes no network requests at all.
What it stores, and where
| What | Where | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Your settings (presets, categories, your own words, always-shown channels and subreddits) | Your browser's extension storage. If you use your browser's sync, your browser syncs it between your devices. | Until you change them or remove the extension |
| How many items were turned down each day, by category | Your browser's local extension storage | The last 30 days |
| Today's list of what was turned down (titles and links) | Memory only | Cleared when you close the browser |
Nothing in this table ever leaves your browser through the extension. The Safari app itself stores nothing.
Permissions
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Read and change data on youtube.com and reddit.com | To read titles and comments, and to replace turned-down items with a note |
| Storage | To remember your settings and today's count |
| Scripting | To start working in YouTube and Reddit tabs that were already open when you installed it |
It does not have access to any other website.
Children
The extension collects no information from anyone, including children.
